Translation of the Text of the Lesson:
ليلى وأبوها عند الفاكهيّ
Lailaa wa aboohaa inda al-faakihee.
Laila and her father at the fruit seller.
يضع الفاكهي الفاكهة في صناديق
Yada'a al-faakihee al-fakihah fee sanaadiq.
The fruit seller puts the fruits in boxes.
اشترى الأب صندوقا من الكمثرى
Ishtaraa al-ab sandooqan min al-kumassaraa.
The father bought a box of pears.
واشترى خوخا وعنبا
Wa ishtaraa khookhan wa enaban.
He bought peaches and grapes.
وزن الفاكهي الفاكهة بالميزان.
Wazana al-faakihee alfaakihah bil meezaan.
The fruit seller weighs the fruits in the balance.
أخذت ليلى بطيخة كبيرة
Akhazath Lailaa bitteekhah kabeerah.
Laila took a large watermelon.
حملت ليلى البطيخة
Hamalath lailaa al-bittikhah.
Laila carried the watermelon.
البطيخة ثقيلة.
