Listen to the Sentences and understand the meanings:

Arabic Text:

يطير الأطفال مثل العصفور.

Read As:

Yatheeru al-athfaal misl al-usfoor .

Meaning:

The children are flying like birds.



2)
Arabic Text:

يجري الأطفال مثل القطار .

Read As: 
Yajree Al-awlaadu misl al-qithaar .

Meaning:
The children are running like a train.



3)
Arabic Text:
تصطاد نورة الفراشة بالشبكة .

Read As: 
Thasthaadu Noorah al-faraashah bish-shabakah.

Meaning: 
Noorah is catching (hunting) butterflies with a net.



4)
Arabic Text:
تَنُطُّ أمل الحبل .

Read As:
Thanuth-thu Amal al-Habl.

Meaning: 
Amal is jumping the rope.



5)
Arabic Text:
يُنُطُّ الأطفال مثل الضفدع

Read As:
Yunuth-thu al-athfaal misl ad-difdaa.

Meaning:
The children are jumping like frogs.

Arabic Text:
يشُدُّ الاطفال الحبل .

Read As:
Yashuddu al-athfaal al-Habl.

Meaning:
The children are pulling the rope.

Arabic Text:
يجري الأطفال إلى النخلة الطويلة .

Read As: 
Yajree al-athfaal ilaa an-nahkhlah ath-thaweelah.

Meaning:
The children are running to the tall Palm tree.

يشد بدر ذيل الكلب .

Read As: 
Yashuddu Badr zael al-kalb.

Meaning: 
Badr is pulling the tail of the dog.

إلى أين يجري الأطفال؟

Ilaa Aina yajree al-athfaal?

Where are the children running to?

يجري الأطفال إلى النخلة.

Yajree al-athfaal ilan-nakhlah.

The children are running to the date (Palm) tree.



2)
إلى أين تمشي البنت ؟

Ilaa Aina thamshee al-binth?

Where is the girl walking to?

تمشي البنت إلى الباب.

Thamshee al-binth ilal-baab.

The girl is walking to the door.



3)
إلى أين يزحف الثعبان ؟

Ilaa Aina Yazhafu as-subaan?

Where is the snake crawling to?

يزحف الثعبان إلى الجدار.

Yazhafu as-subaan ilal-jidaar.

The snake is crawling to the wall.

إلى أين يطير العصفور؟

Ilaa aina yatheeru al-usfoor?

Where is the bird flying to?

يطير العصفور إلى الشجرة.

Yatheeru al-usfoor ilash-shajarah.

The bird is flying to the tree.

إلى أين تسبح أمل؟

Ilaa Aina thasbahu Amal?

Where is Amal swimming to?

تسبح أمل إلى العوامة.

Thasbahu Amal ilal-áwaamah.

Amal is swimming to the swimming float.



6)
إلى أين يصعد طارق؟

Ilaa Aina yasádu Tariq?

Where is Taariq climbing to?

يصعد طارق إلى السطح.

Yasádu Tariq ilas-sathah.

Tariq is climbing to the roof.

ضفدع - Difdaá - Frog

بيضة - Baidah - Egg

حوض - Hawd - Wash basin




Usage of the alphabet - ذ :


ذيل - Zail - Tail

هذا - Haazaa - This

خذ - Khuz - Take



Exercise 4.3:Identify the alphabet the picture is based upon from between ك and خ. Write the alphabet in the space provided beside the picture :

Arsumu Shajarah.

Bi-maazaa tharsum?

أرسم بلألوان .

Arsumu bil Alwaan.

I am drawing with colours.

ماذا تصطادين ؟

Mazaa thasthaadeen ( when addressed to feminine)?

What are you hunting (catching)?

أصطاد الفراش.

Asthaadu al-faraash( plural ).

I am hunting (catching) butterflies.

بماذا تصطادين ؟

Bi-maazaa thasthaadeen ?

With what do you hunt ?

أصطاد بالشّبكة .

Asthaadu bish-shabakah .

I hunt with a net.

ماذا تسقي ؟

Mazaa thasqee ?

What are you watering ?

أسفي الزرع .

Asqee az-zará.

I am watering plants (vegetation).

بماذا تسقي ؟

Bi-maazaa thasqee ?

With what do you watering ?

أسقي بالماء .

Asqee bil-maa.

I am watering with water.

Mazaa thalabeen ?

What are you playing?

ألعب الكرة .

Alábu al-kurrah.

I am playing the ball.

بماذا تلعبين ؟

Bi-maazaa thalabeen ?

With what are you playing ?

ألعب بالكرة .

Alábu bil-kurrah.

I am playing with the ball.

ماذا تقص؟

Mazaa thaqussu ?

What are you cutting ?

أقصى الورقة .

Aqussu al-waraqah .

I am cutting the paper.

بماذا تقص ؟

Bi-maazaa thaqussu ?

With what do you cut ?

أقص بالمقص .

Aqussu bil-maqas.

I cut with a scissors.

Mazaa thaqween ?

What are you ironing ?

أكوي الملابس .

Aqwee al-malaabis.

I am ironing clothes.

بماذا تكوين ؟

Bi-maazaa thakween ?

With what are you ironing ?

أكوي بالمكواة .

Akwee bilmikwaah.

I am ironing with an iron
